As a result of our experience in space planning, ICON INTERIORS were invited to partner with Alsco, to assess 3 sites in Footscray, Mulgrave & Oakleigh. We identified opportunity costs that they could exploit to gain production capacity, better staff amenity & staff workplace opportunities. We zeroed in on the Mulgrave & Oakleigh sites, as we identified those as having the biggest bang for buck – biggest value for money – return on investment equation.
At the Oakleigh site, we were able to create new operation areas out of the spaces, performing simple reshuffles which met their objectives both in budget & timing- working nights & weekends to achieve this. We upgraded the critical cabling infrastructure, and enabled a much free-er flowing workplace to go with that operational area.
In the Mulgrave site, we identified numerous dead spots within the layout of the workplace, and from when they used to be a much more admin- heavy administration. This enabled us to bring part of production, finished garments storage, to the ground floor. This freed up a lot of space in production, taking the pressure off there. We also relocated the administration staff to the upper level, reconfiguring the workplace design, workstations, acoustic control, managing the new cable & data layout for a much freer flowing operation. This also gave us the opportunity to create windows overlooking production.
We met all their brief and their objectives. We met their budget target & were able to mobilise quickly to achieve their narrow window of opportunity for the project delivery. And best of all, we unlocked better outcomes for the Alsco operations as well as for the wellbeing of their staff.
