Armadale Workplace
Space utilisation constraints were restricting this Armadale workplace, resulting in a proposal to sacrifice the courtyard for additional work areas.
Multiple attempts to redesign the 700 sqm 2 level building to accommodate the growing team numbers had been unsuccessful. The remaining recommendation was to convert the much-loved outdoor courtyard to create additional work & boardroom areas.
Icon Interiors was contacted to assess the space and structural possibilities of the building. Through space engineering, architecture, and construction method innovation, the Icon studio cracked the hidden code within the tenancy. Additional floorspace was created by constructing a floating oval space, cantilevering over the void to become the company boardroom and an architectural icon.
...outside the square thinking created a unique result
The floating oval shaped space unlocked the additional floor area required for the company growth, and the courtyard has remained as a culture enhancer & special outdoor retreat for the staff. A classic outcome of the Icon studio’s signature extraodinary space utilisation.
